The Ranschbacher Seligmacher is located above Ranschbach on the German Wine Route and is one of the most geologically exciting sites in the Southern Palatinate. The steep slope is characterized by the so-called Rotliegend – a soil of volcanic origin, formed during a phase of intense tectonic activity. Quartz porphyry, tuff, and volcanic deposits give the wine a distinctive spiciness, cool minerality, and a precise, almost salty tension. This rare terroir produces structured, individual Rieslings with great depth.
On the nose, the Riesling is spicy-tart with notes of Amalfi lemon, bright fruit, and cool stoniness. On the palate, it is juicy and precise, complexly structured, and clearly defined. The salty minerality extends into the finish, accompanied by subtle spice and taut freshness. A focused Riesling with inner tension and a long, dry aftertaste.
The grapes were selectively hand-picked, gently pressed as whole clusters, and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel with low pre-clarification. The puristic vinification underscores the volcanic origin and preserves clarity, precision, and aging potential.
A distinctive, minerally dominated Riesling with a volcanic character, subtle spiciness, and great length – powerful, precise, and designed for long development.
