A characterful Riesling from one of the most distinctive sites in the Mittelhaardt. The Königsbacher Ölberg is located on an east-facing slope between Königsbach and Deidesheim. The soils consist of fertile loess, interspersed with fragments of marl limestone – a combination that ideally blends warmth, structure, and tension. This site warms up particularly quickly in the morning, so the grapes often ripen up to two weeks earlier than in the neighboring Nußbien.

The Riesling shows a delicate, clear fruit, characterized by citrus, ripe apple, stone fruit, and floral notes. A finely spiced, slightly herbaceous note complements the bouquet, while the chalky origin lends a taut minerality. The aroma is precise, cool, and elegant – typical for Rieslings from the transition zone between the Haardt and the Rhine plain.

On the palate, the Ölberg Riesling presents itself as taut, vibrant, and finely textured. The acidity is clear and vibrant, yet harmoniously integrated. The mineral depth and the cool, stony pull give the wine tension and length. A white wine that combines substance and finesse and possesses remarkable aging potential.

The over 30-year-old vines in this parcel yield small, aromatic berries with low yields. The combination of morning warming, chalky, well-draining subsoil, and cool evening air leads to particularly expressive and balanced Rieslings with typical Palatinate elegance.

The grapes were hand-picked in three selective passes, sorted again by hand at the winery, and gently pressed. After natural sedimentation, the must was spontaneously fermented with vineyard-native yeasts.

The wine was aged partly in large oak barrels made from Palatinate oak, partly in stainless steel tanks, followed by a long lees aging and minimal, later sulfuring. This gentle, traditional approach preserves origin, transparency, and aromatic depth.

A precise, elegant, and mineral Riesling that authentically and durably interprets the Königsbacher Ölberg.
