The Kalkfels Riesling comes from a strictly selected single parcel on the Ilbesheimer KALMIT and is part of the new Kalkfels line, which specifically focuses on the character of the lime-rich soils of the Kleine Kalmit. The subsoil of massive land snail limestone gives the wine its distinctive mineral tension, depth, and typical chalky grip. This site is one of the most precise limestone terroirs in the Southern Palatinate and produces Rieslings with energy, structure, and longevity.

As a deliberately late-released Late Release, the Riesling today shows high concentration and yet astonishing freshness. On the nose, lime zest, cool stony minerality, and delicate spice dominate. On the palate, it is juicy and powerful, with vibrant acidity, pronounced chalky grip, and great inner tension. Despite its density, the wine remains playful, precise, and clearly defined, with a long, spicy-salty finish.

The grapes were selectively hand-picked, gently processed, and spontaneously fermented in stainless steel without pre-clarification after a short period of skin contact. The wine then matured on its fine lees in half-piece barrels, was bottled unfiltered, and only minimally sulfured. This uncompromisingly reduced vinification preserves energy, texture, and expression of origin.

A distinctive, limestone-driven Riesling with depth, tension, and aging potential – concentrated, precise, and lively at the same time.
