Gimmeldinger Meerspinne Spätburgunder trocken Grosse Lage - Weingut Peter Stolleis - Wein & Nielsen GmbH

2021 / 0.75 l

A profound, structured Pinot Noir from one of Gimmeldingen's most distinctive vineyards. The Meerspinne stands for precision, concentration, and elegance – a red wine that uncompromisingly unites origin and craftsmanship.

On the nose, the wine displays flint, dark berries, sour cherry, and fine spice notes, accompanied by a cool, mineral depth. The aroma is concentrated but not opulent, with clear fruit and restrained oak spice.

On the palate, the Spätburgunder presents itself as dense, textured, and full of tension. The tannins are fine-grained and precise, the acidity lively and fresh. The mineral line gives the wine grip and length, while the structure radiates calm and depth. The finish is long, focused, and elegant.

The Gimmeldinger Meerspinne vineyard is one of the best Pinot parcels in the Mittelhaardt. The limestone and stone-rich soils provide mineral tension and a cool style, which is particularly reflected in the clear structure and fine spice of the wine.

Already in the vineyard, the yield is reduced several times to achieve the highest aroma concentration. After selective manual harvesting, a further strict selection takes place in the cellar. Depending on the vintage, 10–30% whole clusters are co-fermented on the mash. After gentle pressing, the wine matures for around 18 months in barriques, about 50% of which are new French oak. Subsequently, only the best barrels are assembled, and the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

A complex, mineral-driven Pinot Noir with depth, texture, and remarkable longevity.
