Elsheimer Blume Chardonnay - Weingut Eppelmann - Organic
Sufficient stock! Ready to ship!
A complex Chardonnay with floral notes, yellow fruits, delicate herbal spice and subtle reduction, supported by the typical salty-calcareous tension of the Elsheimer Blume. On the palate, it shows complexity, fine phenolics and elegant length, accompanied by well-integrated acidity and subtle oak spice – a powerful, yet precise single-vineyard wine with great expressiveness.
The grapes were selectively hand-picked. After spontaneous fermentation, the Chardonnay matured for 12 months in Burgundian barriques (multiple uses) and another 6 months on the fine lees in stainless steel. The unfiltered bottling preserves structure, texture and the subtle reduction, which gives the wine additional depth and aging potential. Vegan and Naturland certified.
The Elsheimer Blume is one of Rheinhessen's most distinctive Chardonnay sites. The parcel Im Hieberg is located in a south-facing, sheltered, warm and ideally ventilated basin. The soil consists of deep calcareous marl with approx. 30% active limestone, part of the former limestone reef of the Mainz Basin. This highly mineral terroir shapes the wine with salty length, density, herbal spice and clear structure.
Chardonnays from the Blume are considered particularly rich and complex; precise harvesting is crucial, as the site brings a lot of power in warm years. The wine harmoniously combines warmth, elegance and a fine chalky pull.
