The Forster Ungeheuer is one of the great classic Riesling sites of the Palatinate (Pfalz). The vines, which are over 40 years old, yield highly concentrated, extract-rich grapes and form the basis for this strictly selected Réserve wine (only 200 bottles).
The Riesling presents itself as ripe, deep, and multifaceted, with aromas of pear, lime, and delicate meringue, complemented by hints of salted caramel and spicy depth. On the palate, it is opulent and structured, yet calm and precise, supported by a soft texture, moderate acidity, and a long, harmonious finish.
After spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, the wine matured on its full lees for over 36 months before bottling. This long aging on lees gives it additional depth, complexity, and great aging potential. The wine remains powerful without losing its balance. The small production quantity underlines the exceptional character of this vintage.
A serious, long-lived Riesling with great substance that needs time – and rewards it richly.
