Deidesheim, Micro-parcel, New Beginning

Anyone who looks into Julian Seckinger's winery quickly realizes: This is not about growth, but about intensity. In Deidesheim, in the middle of the Mittelhaardt, Julian filled his first own vintage 2024, and deliberately chose the smallest possible beginning: one grape variety, one parcel, one wine.

At the heart of this is the conviction that great wines do not arise from speed, but from "the power of time, precision and experience". Nothing is accelerated, nothing is made wider than the site allows. A debut that feels more like a final exam than a first attempt.

One Site - One Wine

The parcel is located in Deidesheim's Waldberg, part of the Paradiesgarten, at 182 meters with a south-easterly orientation. Sandy loam over colored sandstone, plus the morning sun of the east flank: a combination that brings ripeness without losing freshness.

This is precisely where the Riesling draws its character, with fine minerality, clear contours and a distinctive, almost peppery spice. Not a broad, opulent Palatinate wine, but a wine with calm concentration and a lingering finish.

Phylloxera-resistant - old vines, small quantities

The core consists of phylloxera-resistant vines over 50 years old, meaning vines on their own rootstock instead of grafted - a rarity in German viticulture. They produce less, bear less and root deeper. You can taste this: more substance, more calmness, more origin.

Time as a Tool

Deliberately little happens in the cellar: spontaneous fermentation with the winery's own yeasts in wooden barrels, followed by 14 months on the full lees. No rush, no forced adjustments, the wine is given the time to develop its texture itself.

The wine matures in a historic sandstone cellar under Deidesheim. Cool, constant, old - a place that suits the philosophy: peace, precision and respect for the work in the vineyard.

2024 - a debut worth following

First vintages are usually a promise. This one is already a finished wine: compact, salty, with a precision that one otherwise expects from established wineries.

What is emerging here is just at the beginning, and anyone who likes to accompany such wines from the first bottle is in the right place here. The quantities are naturally tiny.
