A striking, powerful and mineral Riesling from a spectacular steep vineyard. The Trabener Zollturm is one of the winery's newest yet most impressive sites: an old customs fortress towers above the terraces, creating an unmistakable landmark above the extremely steep, quartzite and slate-dominated slopes. Although only a few hundred meters from the famous Enkircher Ellergrub, the Zollturm already belongs to the Traben-Trarbach area – a transitional zone where geological diversity and microclimate produce particularly exciting wines.

The Riesling displays an opulent-racy style, combining power and finesse. Ripe stone fruit, citrus, herbal spice and a cool, smoky slate note appear on the nose, accompanied by subtle floral accents. The aromatics are intense and deep, yet precise and clearly defined.

On the palate, the Trabener Zollturm is concentrated, powerful and firmly mineral, with vibrant, taut acidity and a salty, stony core. The texture is dense, energetic and long-lasting, supported by a striking slate spice and the typical quartzite grip, which gives the wines from this site additional tension. The finish is long, clear and of great elegance.

The site is characterized by grey Devonian slate with a high proportion of quartzite, a rare rock combination that produces cool aromatics, spice, and enormous minerality. The steep slope ensures maximum sun exposure and excellent drainage, while proximity to the Mosel and evening air circulation provide balance and freshness. The soils and microclimate of this single vineyard produce concentrated, long-lived Rieslings with a distinctive profile.

As is typical for Immich-Batterieberg, winemaking is spontaneous, with gentle processing and reductive aging in large wooden barrels, depending on the vintage. Extended lees contact supports structure, depth, and longevity, while the purist approach preserves the authentic expression of the terroir.

A powerful, tension-filled and opulently mineral Riesling from an exceptional steep vineyard – a true character wine with great potential.
