Dhroner Hofberg Riesling GG - VDP.Weingut A.J. Adam - Wein & Nielsen GmbH

The Dhroner Hofberg Riesling GG presents ripe yellow fruit aromas of pear, star fruit, and citrus, underpinned by fine floral and smoky nuances. On the palate, it is precise and powerful, carried by vibrant acidity (7.5 g/l) and a fine structure that culminates in a long, mineral-spicy finish.

The grapes come from the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® Dhroner Hofberg, where the vines were planted in 1970 on weathered Devonian slate with quartzite veins. The steep, terraced parcels with dry-stone walls are sheltered in the Dhron Valley and benefit from the cool downdrafts of the Hunsrück. This special microclimate allows for slow, even ripening, thus preserving the aromatic freshness and structure of the grapes.

The harvest was carried out selectively by hand, with a yield of 40 hl/ha. The vinification included whole-bunch pressing with stems, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in 1,000-liter Fuder casks. After about eight months of lees aging, the wine was bottled under natural cork.

The Hofberg site is one of the most traditional vineyards in the Dhron Valley and was already listed as a top site on the Prussian vineyard map in the 19th century. Its terraced slate slopes with iron oxide veins and untouched nature still make it a prime example of classic Mosel steep-slope viticulture today.
