Sufficient stock! Ready to ship!
A magnificent Mosel Riesling with clarity, tension, and impressive depth. The Goldtröpfchen has always been known for powerful, long-lived wines – here in a precise, focused interpretation that clearly reflects its origin and vintage.
On the nose, the wine is concentrated and complex, with yellow fruit, citrus, grapefruit, and subtle herbal notes. A cool, slatey minerality and delicate spice lend depth and tension to the aroma.
On the palate, the Riesling presents itself as taut, focused, and powerful, supported by a lively, precise acidity and fine structure. The fruit remains clear and straightforward, while the minerality provides pressure and length. The finish is long, dense, and persistent.
The grapes come from the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, from ungrafted vines dating back to 1944. The steep, terraced parcels above Ferres are characterized by grey slate with quartzite, dry stone walls, and rocky outcrops – a classic, historic Mosel terroir that promotes concentration and minerality. The yield was a mere 30 hl/ha.
After selective hand-picking in October, the grapes were gently pressed as whole bunches, spontaneously fermented, and aged for eight months on the lees in old wooden barrels. This restrained vinification emphasizes structure, depth, and origin without overworking the wine.
A precise, mineral-driven Riesling with great length and aging potential, impressively showcasing the class of Piesporter Goldtröpfchen.
