Hurry up! Only 3 in stock!
A cool, tension-filled Riesling from one of the highest and most distinctive sites in the Mittelhaardt. The Forster Musenhang is located above Forst an der Weinstraße, directly on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, and is one of the coolest vineyards in the region. Its proximity to the forest ensures longer ripening periods, cool nights, and pronounced aromatic precision.
The wine displays a clear, focused Riesling aroma with citrus, green apple, white peach, and delicate herbal notes. A cool, stony note permeates the bouquet, lending the wine depth and tension. The fruit appears precise and restrained, always supported by freshness.
On the palate, the Musenhang Riesling presents itself as taut, vibrant, and mineral-driven. The acidity is clear and invigorating, the body lean but substantial. A delicate salty minerality provides grip and length on the finish. Despite its moderate alcohol content, the wine shows power and inner tension – typical of late-ripening Rieslings from cool sites.
The Musenhang is geologically special: in addition to classic Palatinate weathered soils, there are basalt components originating from a disused basalt quarry. This volcanic rock stores heat, releasing it slowly, and imparts a distinctive, slightly smoky minerality to the wine. The grapes here ripen later than in the lower-lying Forster sites, which further promotes freshness and precision.
The grapes are selectively hand-picked and spontaneously fermented. The aging is deliberately restrained, without fining and without filtration, to preserve the origin and structure unadulterated. The result is a puristic, clear Riesling with a clear site expression.
A cool, mineral, and precise Riesling that authentically reflects the special location of the Forster Musenhang – exciting, distinctive, and long-lived.
