Forst Ungeheuer Riesling Grosse Lage - Weingut Andres
Sufficient stock! Ready to ship!
One of the most historically significant Riesling sites in the world and still a benchmark for great, exciting wines. The Forster Ungeheuer combines power and precision in extraordinary balance.
The soil of this Grosse Lage site is unique: basalt, calcareous marl, and red sandstone intertwine here. The basalt stores heat and gives the wine pressure and energy, the lime provides freshness and saline minerality, while the red sandstone contributes structure and fullness. This combination allows for high presence while maintaining elegance.
The wine appears concentrated and deep without showing heaviness. The minerality is clearly pronounced, the texture taut and precise, the overall impression calm and confident. A Riesling with inner tension, a clear line, and great length.
The grapes are spontaneously fermented with natural yeasts and aged 100% in large wooden barrels. The low yield of 30 hl/ha ensures density and depth without overshadowing the origin.
A grand, terroir-driven Riesling that impressively reflects the Forster Ungeheuer in its classic, precise style.
