A powerful yet very clearly defined Riesling from one of the classic Grand Cru sites of the Mosel. The Ohligsberg stands for precision, spice, and characteristic mineral depth.

On the nose, the wine appears focused and complex, with yellow fruit, fresh citrus notes, and subtle floral hints. A cool, stony minerality and delicate spice underscore its clear aromatics.

On the palate, the Riesling is taut, precise, and powerful. The lively acidity provides freshness and drive, while the salty minerality ensures depth and length. The finish is long, finely spicy, and distinctly mineral.

The vines of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE® Wintricher Ohligsberg were planted in the 1970s and are rooted in gray-blue slate weathering soil with quartzite components. The extremely steep, west-southwest facing site benefits from the heat reflection of the Mosel and simultaneously from a cool microclimate, which allows for slow, aromatic ripening. The stony soil imbues the wines with spice, clarity, and structure.

Selective hand harvesting in October, gentle whole-bunch pressing, spontaneous fermentation, and eight months of aging on the lees in old wooden barrels preserve its origin and tension without over-shaping the wine.

The Ohligsberg is one of the most historically significant sites on the Mosel; already in the 19th century, its wines were among the most prized in Germany; a 1913 Ohligsberg was served at the 1922 Nobel Prize banquet. The site produces Rieslings of great expressiveness and aging potential – this vintage demonstrates this with impressive precision.
