Merbitzer Bauernberge Weissburgunder Erstes Gewächs - VDP.Weingut Martin Schwarz
Sufficient stock! Ready to ship!
A clear, mineral-driven Pinot Blanc from a special site on the western edge of the Saxon Elbe Valley. The Merbitzer Bauernberge are among the few VDP.ERSTE LAGE® sites in Saxony and are characterized by Pläner, a calcareous sedimentary rock that gives the wine its cool style, fine salinity, and compact structure.
On the nose, the wine is reserved and focused. Delicate pear, a hint of white flowers, wet stone, and fine herbal spice characterize the bouquet. The fruit remains subtle – the expression of the soil clearly takes precedence.
On the palate, the Pinot Blanc appears calm, precise, and densely built. Fine pressure, a grippy texture, and a pronounced, chalky-mineral line define the impression. The acidity is integrated and supports the structure; the finish is long, salty, and clear.
The rare Pläner subsoil – a calcareous sedimentary rock – gives the wine its characteristic tension and minerality. The site favors slow ripening and preserves freshness and clarity, even in warm years.
The wine was aged for twelve months in a new 500-liter wooden barrel, followed by seven months of aging on fine lees in a stainless steel tank. The wood is perceptible but used sparingly – it supports the wine without overpowering it and enhances structure and depth.
A terroir-driven, precise Pinot Blanc with a clear signature, quiet power, and very good aging potential.
