Maustal Spätburgunder GG - VDP.Weingut Zehnthof Luckert - Organic
Sufficient stock! Ready to ship!
A Pinot Noir of great depth and clear origin, grown in the famous steep vineyard of Maustal on lean, skeletal shell limestone. The wine shows a powerful garnet red and opens a finely nuanced bouquet of red berries, dark cherry, raspberry and cassis, complemented by subtle woody spice, earthy notes and fine herbs.
On the palate, the Maustal Spätburgunder presents itself with precision, coolness, and minerality. The fine-grained tannins, clear, elegant acidity, and chalky-stony structure lend it tension and length. The wine appears concentrated but never heavy, ending in a long-lasting, spicy-mineral finish. A Burgundy with great balance and inner calm – powerful, yet fine and subtle.
The Maustal vineyard is one of Franconia's outstanding red wine sites. The vineyard is steep, south-facing, and characterized by shell limestone soils with a high proportion of stones and lime. The old vines root deep into this nutrient-poor subsoil, yielding low harvests but producing wines with impressive minerality, finesse, and high aging potential.
The grapes come from certified organic cultivation, are selectively hand-picked, and undergo spontaneous fermentation. Aging takes place over approximately 18 months in French barriques, with the wood always used sparingly. The long barrel maturation gives the wine structure, depth, and a delicate spice without overpowering the fruit or minerality.
A distinctive, long-lasting Pinot Noir that impressively reflects the potential of the Maustal — typically Zehnthof Luckert, typically Großes Gewächs.
