The Maikammer Kapellenberg Spätburgunder from Weingut Seckinger comes from one of the most distinctive Pinot sites in the Palatinate. Located west of Maikammer, the Kapellenberg is characterized by calcareous clay, loam, and limestone soils – a terroir perfectly suited for Spätburgunder with Burgundian depth and precision.
The partly old vines and selected, Burgundian-influenced plant material yield low harvests and highly concentrated grapes that authentically reflect their origin.
In the glass, the wine shows cool elegance and fine transparency. The nose is subtle and complex: red cherry, wild raspberry, and a hint of blood orange, underpinned by fine spice, a little cocoa, and delicate smoke. Everything is precisely interwoven; nothing dominates.
On the palate, a silky texture unfolds with remarkable tension. The chalky minerality gives the wine backbone and depth, while the extremely fine-grained tannins carry it without creating heaviness. Juicy, focused, and with a long, cool finish.
The aging process in wood is carried out with the utmost restraint, always serving the wine's origin. Barriques from the Burgundian cooperage François Frères are used, whose finely tuned oak barrels lend the wine structure, subtle spice, and additional dimension without overshadowing its clarity.
This results in a Pinot Noir of aristocratic style: cool, precise, and characterized by inner calm. The balance of freshness, structure, and minerality also gives it great aging potential.
A profound organic Pinot with origin and attitude – elegant, complex, and made for grand moments in the glass.
