A cool, elegantly mineral Pinot Noir from one of the most distinctive limestone sites in the Palatinate. The KALMIT Spätburgunder GG shows the typical combination of finesse, tension, and deep terroir expression from the Kleine Kalmit.
The wine smells of sour cherry, redcurrant, and subtle floral notes, accompanied by delicate spice and cool herbal tones. The tannins are silky and precise, while the minerality provides a salty draw and clear contour.
On the palate, the wine is juicy, cool, and straightforward, supported by vibrant acidity and an elegant tannin structure. The limestone-influenced base gives it tension and a long, focused finish.
The Kleine Kalmit – a 270m high hill made of porous land snail limestone with loess, marl, and loam inclusions – offers ideal conditions for characterful Pinot Noir wines. The south-facing VDP.GROSSE LAGE Ilbesheimer KALMIT provides Pinot with depth, freshness, and origin thanks to perfect sun exposure and calcareous, well-draining soils.
After selective hand-picking, the grapes undergo gentle mash treatment, spontaneous fermentation, and manual punching down. Maturation over two winters in used barriques and unfiltered bottling preserve structure and terroir transparency.
A finely woven, mineral-charged Pinot Noir that impressively showcases the elegance and power of the Kleine Kalmit.
