This Grosses Gewächs comes from the VDP.GROSSEN LAGE® Freyburger Edelacker in Saale-Unstrut. The steep, sun-drenched slopes and the chalky Muschelkalk soil provide a cool precision, clear contours, and the typical, slightly salty minerality for which the region is known.

In the glass, the Spätburgunder appears fine and transparent with a ruby red core. On the nose, red berries, sour cherry, and forest fruit combine with subtle herbal notes and a hint of earthy spice. On the palate, the wine is dense, taut, and very precise, supported by vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and a chalky, mineral drive that extends into a long finish.

Selective harvesting, traditional mash fermentation, and a long maturation in wood give the wine depth and structure without overpowering the fruit. The style remains clear: not a loud Pinot, but one with tension, origin, and quiet power.

A serious, Burgundian-influenced Spätburgunder with length, elegance, and very good aging potential.
