An iconic Mosel Riesling from one of Germany's most distinctive and historically significant vineyards. The Enkircher Batterieberg monopole vineyard lies between Enkirch and Traben-Trarbach, framed by the Zeppwingert, and is characterized by steeply terraced slate formations, old walls, and outstanding geological substance. The site is named after the "blasting batteries" used between 1841 and 1845 to blast massive rock outcrops, making it possible to cultivate the vineyard at all – a unique testament to Mosel viticultural history.

The Batterieberg is characterized by grey Devonian slate with an unusually high proportion of quartzite. This special rock mixture produces cool, taut, mineral wines with impressive power and depth. The terraced site with its rock outcrops stores heat, yet at the same time promotes excellent drainage—ideal conditions for highly concentrated, long-lived Rieslings. The site is cultivated exclusively by Weingut Immich-Batterieberg and is considered one of the most distinctive monopole vineyards on the Mosel.

The Batterieberg Riesling presents itself as powerful, firm, and multifaceted, with an aroma that oscillates between ripe citrus, yellow stone fruit, herbal spice, and smoky-mineral slate notes. A subtle floral note and a fresh, clear vein accompany the cool, stony deep spice that is typical of the Batterieberg.

On the palate, the wine shows high concentration, precise acidity, and pronounced, salty minerality, supported by a dense texture and great inner tension. The Riesling appears taut, uncompromising, and yet surprisingly elegant. The Reserve-like structure and the tightly interwoven phenolics give it legendary aging potential over decades—one of the style-defining characteristics of this site.

The grapes come from selective hand-picking, are spontaneously fermented, and carefully aged in large wooden barrels. Long lees contact supports the complexity and calmness of the wine, while minimal intervention preserves the puristic terroir expression.

An iconic, powerful, and unmistakably mineral Riesling that impressively conveys the uniqueness of the Batterieberg—a monopole wine with origin, history, and extraordinary depth.
