Edenkobener Mühlberg Riesling - Weingut J.J. Berizzi

A dense, exciting Riesling from an exceptional monopole site in the heart of Edenkoben. The Mühlberg stands for concentration, salinity and depth – a wine that uncompromisingly unites origin and craftsmanship.

On the nose, the wine is concentrated and mineral, with aromas of ripe apples and wet pebbles. A distinct salty note characterizes the bouquet and gives the wine a maritime impression. The subtle influence of the wooden barrel provides a creamy texture and a fine reduction. On the palate, the Riesling is juicy, dense and at the same time elegant, supported by precisely integrated acidity that gives structure and length.

The Edenkobener Mühlberg is a 2.5-hectare monopole site, laid out on historic sandstone terraces. For this wine, only the oldest vines from the uppermost terraces are used, which naturally yield very low quantities. The rare combination of colored sandstone and loess is one of the most extraordinary soil formations for Riesling in the Southern Palatinate and gives the wine its characteristic density, salinity and lasting length.

The grapes are hand-picked when ripe, processed after a short maceration period without pre-clarification and spontaneously fermented in half-piece barrels – the so-called wedding barrel of Janina & Julius. The aging in wood remains fine and supportive, emphasizing texture and depth without obscuring the clarity of the wine.
