The Dhroner Spätburgunder displays a cool, precise style with clear red fruit, fine herbal spice, and fine-grained tannins. On the nose, aromas of cherry, raspberry, and dried blossoms dominate, accompanied by subtle smoky and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine appears straightforward and elegant, supported by fresh acidity (7.0 g/l), fine tannins, and a delicate mineral structure that provides tension and finesse.
The grapes come from the Dhroner Hofberg, a cool, steep vineyard in the Dhron Valley, whose gray slate soils with quartzite veins impart its fine minerality to the wine. The vines are approximately 15 years old and are deeply rooted in the weathered slate soils. The microclimate, influenced by Hunsrück winds and with an east to southwest exposure, allows for slow ripening, preserving freshness and precision.
The harvest yielded 45 hl/ha. After a three-week maceration period with spontaneous fermentation, the wine was gently pressed and then aged in barriques. Bottled unfiltered and with natural cork, it preserves its authentic structure and depth.
A cool, finely structured Pinot Noir of great clarity and elegance – a typical representative of the new, mineral-driven Spätburgunder style of the Mosel.
