Bönnigheim Sonnenberg Chardonnay 1G - VDP.Weingut Dautel - Wein & Nielsen GmbH

2023 / 0.75 l

A chardonnay with character from the VDP.Erste Lage Sonnenberg, combining tension, depth, and Burgundian elegance. The wine impressively demonstrates the potential of limestone-influenced sites for precise, structured white wines.

On the nose, the chardonnay is restrained and mineral, with fine aromas of yeast, cereal, and walnut, complemented by a hint of honey. The fruit remains subtly in the background, lending the bouquet serenity and clarity.

On the palate, the wine presents itself as creamy and powerful, yet clearly structured and elegant. Pear, mirabelle plum, and honeydew melon combine with nutty notes and a fine phenolic grip. A powdery minerality creates tension and carries the wine into a long, mellow finish.

A cellar-worthy white wine with structure, depth, and inner calm, which benefits from brief aeration and will gain further complexity with additional aging.
