The acidity is invigorating and clear, the structure taut and at the same time backed by a fine creaminess. The impression is concentrated, but not heavy - a Chardonnay with length and a pronounced limestone texture. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"1784\" data-start=\"1428\"\u003eThe grapes come from parcels on the Kleine Kalmit, one of the most exciting limestone formations in the Southern Palatinate. The soils consist of calcareous reef and marl deposits, formed from a primeval seabed. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"2221\" data-start=\"1799\"\u003eThe grapes were selectively hand-picked, gently crushed and pressed directly. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in barriques without pre-clarification, which preserves texture and complexity. 50% of the wine is aged in new wood, 50% in previously used barrels, followed by 9 months of aging on the full lees.
